Nancy John-Muricken, LCSW (ETTUMANUKARAN)

About Me

Hi everyone! My name is Nancy Johh Muricken -neuroaffirming therapist (ADHD fam I see you), chai enthusiast, and your future emotional support human (if you want me to be). I hope that you and I can soon spill the chai! Let me go first.  :) 


I offer individual therapy grounded in clinical insight, infused with millennial energy, and flavored  with South Indian Spice.  Being raised in the diverse neighborhoods of Queens, NY (yes, just like your friendly neighborhood Spiderman)  gave me a deep cultural competence that now enrich my therapeutic approach. As someone also living with progressive vision loss caused by an inherited eye disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa, I know what it feels like when life starts to unravel. I was night blind by the age of 11 and lost most of my peripheral and central vision in my twenties.  Trust me,  I know what a Menty B is - especially growing up with all the pressures and expectations of the Indian culture.  But after years of healing, I've come to terms with some things. You don’t have to choose between honoring your culture and caring for your mental health, you can do both. Whether you're untangling your identity, spiraling at 3 a.m., or trying to doom scroll your way out of an existential crisis, I got you. We’ll explore it all together.  


My approach blends several therapeutic styles:  


*Psychodynamic Therapy – to uncover how childhood and family dynamics still show up today (yep, we’re going there)  


*CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) – to help reframe those “I’m not enough” thoughts  *Mindfulness – because sometimes we just need to breathe and not dissociate  


*Culturally Sensitive, Trauma-Informed Care – to support deep insight and healing (and yes we will have chai and tons of spilling). 


Therapy with me is warm, collaborative, and real.. We’ll laugh, cry, unpack, and grow  (sometimes all in one session)  You deserve a space where you don’t have to over-explain yourself, mask your emotions, or code-switch your pain. I offer that space and I bring my full, authentic self into it, so you can too.
